Come See How Tight A Passive House Enclosure Is

Join Passive House Austin for a happy hour at Board Member Mark Larson's (from Built Green Texas) home. The house is framed in and aiming for PHIUS certified status! Sean from IAQ Texas and Positive Energy will demonstrate blower door and duct leakage tests, giving us the basis for a discussion about air sealing issues and other challenges in the construction process.

CPHC Training Schedule & Registration

PHIUS-trained CPHC® consultants are leading the adoption of passive building from coast to coast by designing and building quality-assured projects across all of North America's varied climate zones. Join a robust community of passive building practitioners and register for CPHC training today!

Become a CPHC®

  1. Apply for CPHC Training.

  2. Complete Phase I 35-40 hour online training modules — rolling registration — students have access for four (4) months.

  3. THEN Compete Phase II 5-day In-Class training — register early to ensure your spot in class

  4. OR attend Phase I+II combined 100% In-Class training at Yestermorrow (only offered once a year)

  5. Complete and pass the CPHC Exam comprising both In-Class and Take-Home portion

  6. You are now a CPHC!

Phase I: Online Sessions (recommended 4/6-weeks)

Phase I of the CPHC training comprises a series of pre-recorded online virtual sessions taught by expert instructors, collected readings, recommended resources, and quizzes; altogether comprising about 35-40 hours of learning material. Participants can ask questions and connect with other CPHC course registrants via our online training platform. Students should complete Phase I training prior to starting Phase II.  

2018 Phase I Dates/Locations

NEW! Starting in 2018, Phase I—the online training component—is now available anytime! You can complete the (roughly) 40 hrs. of class work at your convenience; it'll take about four weeks. Enrollees have access to Phase I materials for four months.

Phase II: In-Class Instruction (5-days)

The second phase of CPHC training follows the online portion and is focussed on design exercises, and WUFI Passive and THERM software training. Both Phase I and II are required to successfully complete the course and to be eligible to take the final exam.

"Though sustainability rating programs such as the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)'s LEED have contributed fundamental knowledge on environmentally responsible material approaches in the AEC industry, future material strategies in green building demand a more significant effort to achieve measurable benefits. Next-generation material approaches must increasingly address material effects both within and beyond an architectural project. Significant improvements are possible at the intersections of traditional sustainable design-where materials meet energy, site design, and environmental equality."
